WordPress Optimization

Audit, upgrade and optimization of WordPress installations: performance, security and ongoing maintenance handled by engineers.

WordPress is a solid platform for getting a site off the ground, but over the years it tends to accumulate plugins, pending updates and layered customizations that end up hurting speed and security. This service is for companies that already have a WordPress site — and want to keep it that way — but whose site now loads slowly, struggles under moderate traffic, or has been left exposed by outdated versions of the core, the theme or its plugins.

We work on three fronts. On performance, we cut load times by optimizing images, configuring page- and server-level caching, reviewing which plugins actually add value and which ones are just dead weight, and tuning the database for faster queries. On security, we update the core, theme and plugins to supported versions, review the server configuration, apply hardening against the most common attack vectors (SQL injection, brute force, unvalidated file uploads) and, if the site has already been compromised, carry out a full recovery: cleanup, closing the exploited vulnerability, and verifying that no backdoors remain. When no plugin on the market does exactly what the business needs, we build custom modules for WordPress: payment gateway integrations, specific shipping methods, layouts or flows that generic plugins do not cover.

For example, a professional services firm with a WordPress site that is several years old, loaded with plugins nobody quite remembers installing, and load times of several seconds, typically needs a plugin audit, a full update and a caching setup to bring load times back down without switching platforms. Another common case is a store that notices strange content or unwanted redirects on its site: there, the work is first to recover the site and close the breach, then place it on an update and monitoring schedule so the issue does not recur.

Technically, this means working directly on the theme code and the active plugins, the PHP and server configuration, and the underlying MySQL or MariaDB database, with backups taken before any change and a staging environment kept separate from production. When the client prefers it, the site is also placed under an ongoing maintenance plan, with periodic updates and security reviews.
